our history

Kathryn Hasakis opened what would become Field & Finch as a small shop called Vignettes in LeClaire, Iowa in 2007. Driven by her impeccable eye, boundless creativity, and total embodiment of meráki, Kathryn saw many years of success with her shop. The business, which grew to include multiple locations, a kitchen & gourmet store, and coffee shop, felt like a natural fit for Kathryn's daughter Stephanie after she graduated from the University of Iowa and returned to the Quad Cities. Stephanie worked with and learned from her mother for several years until moving back to Iowa City with her husband in the fall of 2019. After a few years and a pandemic, the opportunity arose for Stephanie and Kathryn to open a shop in Downtown Iowa City's most charming neighborhood (the Northside). They jumped at the chance. Feeling an itch for change and growth, Stephanie and Kathryn decided to honor their long history with Field & Finch with a fresh re-brand that blended everything they built in the QCA with a bright new vision for the Iowa City community. They hit the ground running in March 2022 and have loved every minute in their new neighborhood.
