The Field & Finch Difference

THE FIELD & FINCH DIFFERENCE

With a growing number of options for where to get your permanent jewelry, we wanted to share some of the things that set us apart:

  • Commitment to safety

Getting a new piece of permanent jewelry is quick and painless, and although it is tiny, you are exposed to a very real weld. With that in mind, safety is always our number one priority. This is why we will always protect your skin with a piece of guard leather, offer welding-grade eye protection, and ensure that there are absolutely no rough edges or metal snips left on your new piece of forever jewelry that can scratch you or catch on something.

  • Truly custom fit

Forever Jewelry from Field & Finch is custom fit to you and to your exact preferences. Our permanent jewelry artists will guide you through the entire process, but won’t make a cut or a weld without your input. We want to make sure your new piece of permanent jewelry is exactly the length/size that you want it.

  • Industry standard equipment

We only weld with American-made Sunstone welders and use argon shielding gas on all welds. Permanent jewelry artists who use shielding gas offer stronger welds that are less brittle and prone to breakage.

  • Incredible variety

We strive to provide the most robust, customized permanent jewelry experience. In service of this, we offer more than 40 beautiful chain options and dozens of dainty charms to mix and match to fit your personal style. Simply put, our goal is to spoil you for choice when you get a piece of Forever Jewelry at Field & Finch.

  • Top quality materials

We are committed to providing only the very best materials to our clients, which is why we only carry 14k solid gold, 14k gold filled, and sterling silver chains and charms. There are many, many vendors and we meticulously research the ones we purchase from to ensure that our products will not tarnish or fade with normal use and care. The variety of metal options available can be overwhelming, so we’ve created the chart below to explain the differences between the metal types most commonly seen in permanent jewelry. In addition, as of August 2023, 100% of our gold welds are done with 14k gold jump rings, further ensuring that your weld will be solid and won’t tarnish.

Forever Jewelry Metal Options:

14k Solid Gold: precious metal | highest quality permanent jewelry metal | gold alloy (58.5% gold) all the way through | will not tarnish or chip | wear swimming/bathing without concern | available in yellow, white, or rose gold | higher price point

Sterling Silver: precious metal | silver alloy (92.5% silver) | will oxidize over time, but polishes easily | wear swimming/bathing without concern | lower price point than gold

14k Gold Filled: a thick layer of 14k solid gold that is heat and pressure bonded to a base metal (usually brass or copper) | minimum of 5% 14k gold by weight | will not tarnish or chip | wear swimming/bathing without concern | available in yellow, white, or rose gold | lower price point than solid gold

Not Used at Field & Finch for Forever Jewelry:

Gold Vermeil: precious metals | at least 2.5 microns of solid gold over sterling silver | thinner layer of gold | gold will wear off eventually with daily wear, so not suitable for permanent jewelry | best not to wear swimming/bathing

Gold Plated: thinnest layer of gold over base metal (usually copper or brass) | more likely to tarnish/chip off with daily wear, so not suitable for permanent jewelry | likely to cause discoloration of skin once gold wears off | best not to wear swimming/bathing

Stainless Steel: very cost effective | durable and difficult to break, so not suitable for permanent jewelry due to safety concerns | duller color than sterling silver or white gold
